Editors Guidline
Open Access Us (LQ Publishing) is a peer-reviewed open access international journal dedicated to publishing scientifically sound research work from around the world. This means that readers can access published material for free, without paying a subscription fee. Articles published in Us (LQ Publishing) are freely available immediately after publication. Researchers, students, and interested individuals globally can access the latest research through the journal. We finance publication through article processing charges (APCs), which are paid by the authors or their institutions. APCs cover the costs of managing the peer review process, professional copy-editing, and promotion of the published research. Us (LQ Publishing) has no other source of income. Open access provides authors with a wider circle of readers for their research papers, with studies suggesting that open access papers are more highly cited.
Editorial Offices The Editorial Office of Us (LQ Publishing) is located in Dubai, UAE. The in-house staff includes Managing Editors, Assistant Editors, Production Editors, English Editors, Copyeditors, Data Specialists, Software Engineers, and Administrative Specialists. Our collaborating editors on the Editorial Board are typically employed at academic institutions or corporate research facilities worldwide. Contact with the in-house editorial staff is mainly through e-mail and telephone. Assistant Editors process manuscripts through the peer-review and production procedures; Managing Editors hold editorial responsibility for the journals; Production Editors, English Editors, Copy Editors, and Data Specialists are responsible for converting accepted content into a publishable format (full-text PDF, XML, and HTML versions).
Editorial Process, Peer-Review, and Production Articles submitted to Us (LQ Publishing) undergo strict peer review. The journal operates a double-blind peer-review system (where the reviewers do not know the authors' identities until the paper is published). The online submission system of Us (LQ Publishing) incorporates tools for manuscript submission, peer-reviewing, and editorial decision-making.
Once a manuscript is submitted, the submission is received by the in-house Managing Editor, who coordinates the editorial process, including peer review, decision-making, possible author revisions, manuscript acceptance, copy editing, English editing, proofreading, and final publication. An in-house Academic Editor is assigned to each article and will send review invitations.
At least two reports are collected for each manuscript, or three if the first two differ substantially. Reviewers must hold a PhD, have not published with the authors in the last five years, and have recent publications in the field of the submitted manuscript.
The Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editor, or a suitable editorial board member makes the final acceptance or rejection decision, usually after author revisions. We typically allow no more than two rounds of major revisions.
After acceptance, the in-house editorial staff organizes the production of the paper, including copy editing, English editing, and final production in preparation for publication on the journal's website. Us (LQ Publishing) is structured in yearly volumes and may have monthly or quarterly issues. Articles are published online immediately after acceptance and production.
Editor-in-Chief Responsibilities: The Editor-in-Chief is the head of the journal and is primarily responsible for ensuring the scientific quality of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief does not need to be actively involved in the editorial process; the editorial team handles most of the contact with authors and reviewers.
The Editor-in-Chief assists the Editorial Office in managing the journal, which includes:
- Making scientific decisions regarding the journal’s scope.
- Inviting distinguished scientists to join the editorial board.
- Suggesting topics for special issues.
- Assisting Guest Editors in setting up special issues.
- Overseeing the editorial process for individual manuscripts, primarily taking the final decision on whether a paper can be published after peer review and revisions.
The Editor-in-Chief position is honorary, and as a reward, the Editor-in-Chief may publish their papers free of charge. The initial term is three years and can be renewed.
Editorial Board Member Responsibilities: An Editorial Board member is typically asked to review one or two manuscripts per year and may assist with editing a special issue on a topic related to their research interests. Editorial Board members may also be consulted for feedback on new journal regulations. They are encouraged to promote the journal among peers and at conferences. Communication with Editorial Board members is done primarily by email. The initial term for an Editorial Board membership is two years and may be renewed. Editorial Board members may step down from the position at any time if they feel overloaded by requests from the journal’s Editorial Office.
Guest Editor Responsibilities / Guest Editing a Special Issue: Us (LQ Publishing) welcomes collaborations with scholars globally. Special issues are usually edited by a Guest Editor, who invites colleagues in the same research field to contribute articles on a specific topic. The Guest Editor works with the Editorial Office to prepare a description and keywords for the special issue web page. We aim for at least ten articles per special issue, and often the Guest Editor will also write an editorial paper for the issue. The Guest Editor typically makes decisions on manuscript acceptance (depending on journal policy, sometimes after a recommendation from the Editor-in-Chief). Papers within a special issue are published online immediately after acceptance, and they are grouped on the special issue webpage, ensuring no delays for authors submitting their work.
Guest Editors should not have conflicts of interest with authors they are assessing (e.g., if they are from the same institution or have close collaborations). In such cases, the Editor-in-Chief or a suitable editorial board member will make the final decision on manuscript acceptance.
